Racing Engineering are delighted to announce Fabio Leimer as their driver for the 2012 GP2 Series.

After very positive post-season test days in Jerez and Barcelona, which saw Fabio setting the fastest lap times and a sensational race weekend in Abu Dhabi, where Fabio grabbed pole position and the feature race win, it was a logic step to continue this successful combination between the young Swiss driver and the Spanish team from Sanlucar de Barrameda.

Team Quotes:

Alfonso de Orléans-Borbón, president of Racing Engineering: "I am very happy that Fabio joins the team for the 2012 season. He is a driver with tremendous talent and tenacity. He never gives up and has shown so during the post season tests as well as the race meeting in Abu Dhabi, which he dominated in the Racing Engineering car. Our aim as a team is to make sure he wins the championship and we are putting all our tools at his disposal. After the great work we did together this winter, all we have to do is fine tune everything at the next tests in Jerez and Barcelona so the competition for the 2012 Champion begins."

Fabio Leimer: "I am extremely happy I could sign an agreement with the Spanish Racing Engineering team and to participate with them in the 2012 GP2 Series. I felt already very comfortable with the team during the first tests. During these tests in Jerez and Barcelona, but also the races in Abu Dhabi we were very competitive, and if we work like this during the 2012 season, then I am convinced we will be quite high up in the final standings of the championship. I am really looking forward to working with Racing Engineering and am thankful to the team for believing in me and that they will always provide me with the best possible car."
