Racing Engineering has this morning presented its team for the 2015 GP2 Series, the
main feeder for F1, in an event held at the Costa Ballena Ocean Golf
Club.
At the event, headed by Mr. Alfonso de Orléans-Borbón, President of Racing
Engineering, the two new drivers for the Spanish team for
this season have been presented, Jordan King and Alexander Rossi, as well as the GP2 car.
The presentation was attended by a lot of media from the area, as well as
several personalities such as the Andalucia Government Delegate, Mr. Fernando
López, the Cadiz Civil Guard Chief Commander, Mr. Alfonso Rodríguez, the
President of the Andalucía Motor Sport Federation, Mr. Francisco Melero, and
the Managing Director of the Jerez Circuit, Mr. Juan Baquero, as well as the
Directors of Trefecta Mobility, and representatives of Clínica Beiman and
the OHW software engineering company, among many others.
The British driver Jordan King joins the team to drive car
number 7, just 21 years old, Jordan has already shown his talent in the
junior categories. Alexander Rossi will drive car number 8 for the
Spanish team in what will be his first complete season in GP2 for the 23
years old Californian although he has already a lot of
experience in GP2.
2015 will be the 11th season of the GP2 series, where four teams have raced since its inception: Arden, ART, DAMS and Racing Engineering.
The season started on the9th of March with three testing days for all the
teams at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. For Racing Engineering, one
of the three most successful teams in GP2's history, such tests were an
important first step on the way to scoring more wins and fight for the drivers
and team championships in 2015. Regarding technical changes, it was the
first opportunity to start learning about the new DRS system fitted to the cars
this season, this system is similar to the one already in use in F1. The team
left Abu Dhabi with very positive feelings, as both Jordan and Alexander scored
very competitive lap times and integrated very well within the Spanish team.
All the GP2 teams will get together again for the final preseason tests,
from 1st to 3rd of April at the Sakhir circuit, in Bahrain, where the first race meeting of the season will be held, from the 17th to the 19th of
April, within the programme of the fourth F1 Grand Prix of the 2015 season. |
