Next week, starting on Monday the 13th of March, all the GP2 teams will be attending the Barcelona circuit for the first of two pre-season tests. Lasting for three days it will be a very important time for Racing Engineering and their two drivers and below the Spanish team’s new signing Louis Delétraz explains what these three days will mean to him.

2017 will be your rookie season in GP2 and you can look back onto an intensive preparation during the winter months. Can you talk us through what your last few months looked like?

My last months have been great. The off-season is a strange time because we are not driving but we still need to work hard on many things, like physical preparation, team preparation etc. I spent a lot of time with the Team, we worked on the simulator and all the small details that could make a difference during the season.

You were with Racing Engineering during the three days of testing at the end of the 2016 season and soon decided to join the team for your 2017 campaign. Do you think this was beneficial for your season preparation?

Being together for 3 days testing in 2016 is good. We got to start our collaboration early and know each other very well. I felt immediately at home and I'm very happy to compete the 2017 season with Racing Engineering!

The Barcelona test is the first of two pre-season tests. What do you expect to get out of these three days at the Spanish circuit?

We will use the testing to work on the car and myself to make it perfect. We just need to work together and find a good balance between everything. I love the Barcelona track and the weather is normally always good there.

You know the Circuito de Cataluña, but what differences do you expect when testing in a new category and a new team?

The new car is not the hardest to adapt for me I think. The biggest point to work on will be the Pirelli tyres, it's an abrasive track and the tyre management will be very important.
