The Formula 2 teams are at the Hungaroring for the seventh round of the FIA 2017 Formula 2 Championship and, after this weekend, there are just four more rounds left. The last three rounds, at Baku, Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring have been difficult for Racing Engineering with no points scored by either of their drives, Gustav Malja and Louis Delétraz. However, both men have shown competitive speed in the races and it is now a case of improving their Qualifying pace and they should be able to finish regularly in the points.

The 4.381Km Hungaroring circuit is the slowest of the permanent circuits that the GP2 teams race on and its twisty nature with its bumpy and often dusty surface makes overtaking difficult so a good qualification is very important. Pirelli will be supplying the P Zero White medium tyre together with the Yellow soft compound for the two races this weekend.

Racing Engineering have a good record in Hungary with their drivers finishing on the podium on several occasions and last season, the final year of the GP2 Series, saw their drivers finish second and third in the Sunday Race and the whole team will be giving everything to repeat that result this year.

Facts
1. The Hungaroring is a motorsport race track near the small town of Mogyoród, 18 km northeast of Budapest.

2. The circuit is generally dusty due to underuse the rest of the year. Its location on sandy soil means that if a car puts a wheel off the track, it kicks up massive clouds of dust.

3. With only a couple of short straights, of which even the longest one makes for just 690m of full throttle, the Hungaroring is a low-speed circuit.

4. Corner 1 is considered to be the most demanding on brakes as it comes after the fastest straight on the track.

5. Last year, Racing Engineering's drivers Jordan King and Norman Nato finished the sprint race in second and third position respectively.

6. The circuit is often compared to Monaco due to its narrow, twisty nature and short total distance.

7. Hungaroring has 14 corners in less than 4.5 kilometers, 7 to the right and 8 to the left.

8. The tight and twisty circuit makes overtaking extremely difficult, but that hasn’t stopped there being some incredibly exciting races.

9. The brakes get quite hot around the circuit, with the eleven main braking zones coming together to create one of the toughest tracks in that aspect.

10. Due to the reconstruction works carried out at Hungaroring Circuit in the year 2003, the start-finish straight has become 202m longer while the circuit length changed to 4381.08 m.

11. The smallest curve radius of a corner is 20 meters, while the largest is 400 meters.
