The sixth, and final, round of the 2018 European Le Mans Series will take place this weekend at the Portuguese circuit of Autódromo Internacional do Algarve located at Portimão. The Racing Engineering team are lying in second place in the 2018 LMP2 Team Championship and their drivers, Norman Nato and Paul Petit, are third and Olivier Pla fourth in the Drivers’ Championship despite disappointing results at the 4 Hour races at Silverstone where mechanical failure saw a retirement when in second place and a seventh at Spa Francorchamps when the race was stopped due to rain after two hours with the team on a different pitstop strategy from most of the other teams which almost certainly cost them another podium finish.
This weekend sees the final round of the Series taking place at the 4.692 km circuit in the South of Portugal. Opened in 2008, it is a typical modern design with a long main straight and a mixture of low, medium and high-speed corners comprising sixteen in total. It is notable for its elevation changes during a lap with some comparing it to a roller coaster and it has been used for Formula One testing in the past.
